In Quest of the Last Victory...!!!

I know that this is my second consecutive post giving reviews to any book. Obviously "Gone With The Wind" was on different theme, but this one surely deserved an appreciation for the author, Mr. Navin Gulia, Ex-army officer, who got injured in an accident during the completion of his training at academy, and but now he has reached that point of his life where many of us would never think of reaching, if we're given the same situations to face. The cover page of his book...!!! Since the accident he has been on wheel-chair, but never appeared to be on it if we look at his achievements. He has achieved so many things which we, especially those who say they are completely fit, might not be able to achieve. No doubt he's far more mentally fit than any of us...BTW don't ever dare to doubt his physical fitness as he's survived some of the expeditions which we won't even plan to attempt. Here are his list of achievements: *Mind of Steel Award, 2010 *Karamveer Purskar, 2009 *National Role Model Award, 2007 *Cavinkare Ability Mastery Award, 2006 *Times of India 'Global Indian', 2005 *Chief of Army Staff Commendation, 2005 *Limca Book 'People of the Year', 2005 *State Award for Adventure Sports, 2004 Well, that's something very special, only few people get that...!!! PS: Give it a try, you'll surely gain some confidence about facing challenges in life... PS: That's the first author signed book for me...and I loved it... :)

A Long and A Lone Run.. Few thoughts..!!

Covid-19 has got to the nerves of everyone, someway or the other. However, there is one thing that has helped me maintain my sanity is endurance sports, like long runs and long bike rides. There are days, when I've started doing my own mini-duathlon (say 20-30km bike ride followed by 10k run). This might sound awkward to many, but there are few who will be okay with me doing this. Despite all this, even with so much physical activity, I've never attempted a half marathon alone. All my 14 half-marathons have been in some event or the other. Maximum distance I've covered alone, I guess, will be around 17-18km at a stretch. So to give it a try, last weekend, I thought of attempting a half marathon. All alone. I made this decision pretty late I guess, as weekend was almost over.
