That was the best journey I had...!!!

Some trips become memorable to us in such a way that u can never forget them. I don't know how but today I recalled of a trip that I made a long time ago, I guess it was more than 7-8 years.

I don't remember the exact details, but it was a trip from Agra to Kanpur and we boarded the train in the morning. Obviously, we're expecting it to be a normal journey, but we met a group of college students who were forced to wake up early in the morning(at about 8am...obviously it was too early for any college student) due to us as we're also in the same compartment as them.

But soon, we all became friends and played games, singing songs and doing all such stupid stuff. Actually one of them had his birthday and most probably the next day was the NEW YEAR(that's what I remember), that made the journey more fun.

I don't remember anything in detail about that journey, as its been a long time and at that time I was just a kid, but I remember the most important thing, that it was the best journey of my life till now and I enjoyed it to the fullest... ;)

The Greatest Speech by the Greatest Artist as a Greatest Dictator...!!!

There are some things we need to keep a record of, so that whenever we need them, we can access them. Here's one of them from my collection. Truly speaking, I had forgotten about this video, until I came across it yesterday after a long time while searching for something else.

Its really a very interesting speech from the movie "The Great Dictator"(1940) featuring Charlie Chaplin as "Hitler". I think those who haven't watched the movie should atleast watch the video once...

Here it is:

-----------------------------------------------------
Charlie Chaplin as "Hitler":

I'm sorry but I don't want to be an emperor. That's not my business. I don't want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone if possible; Jew, Gentile, black men, white. We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each others' happiness, not by each other's misery. We don't want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone. And the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way.

Greed has poisoned men's souls; has barricaded the world with hate; has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge as made us cynical; our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost. The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in man; cries out for universal brotherhood; for the unity of us all.

Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world, millions of despairing men, women, and little children, victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people. To those who can hear me, I say "Do not despair." The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish.

Soldiers! Don't give yourselves to brutes, men who despise you and enslave you; who regiment your lives, tell you what to do, what to think and what to feel! Who drill you, diet you, treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder! Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men---machine men with machine minds and machine hearts! You are not machines! You are not cattle! You are men! You have a love of humanity in your hearts! You don't hate! Only the unloved hate; the unloved and the unnatural.

Soldiers! Don't fight for slavery! Fight for liberty! In the seventeenth chapter of St. Luke, it’s written “the kingdom of God is within man”, not one man nor a group of men, but in all men! In you! You, the people, have the power, the power to create machines, the power to create happiness! You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure. Then in the name of democracy, let us use that power.

Let us all unite. Let us fight for a new world, a decent world that will give men a chance to work, that will give youth a future and old age a security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power. But they lie! They do not fulfill their promise. They never will! Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people! Now let us fight to fulfill that promise! Let us fight to free the world! To do away with national barriers! To do away with greed, with hate and intolerance! Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men’s happiness.

Soldiers, in the name of democracy, let us all unite!

PS: Watch the movie, if you get a chance...don't miss it...

I don't want an Answer...I want the Solution...!!!

Sometimes a situation comes when we're stuck in the midst of a situation which needs a solution, but we only have an answer to that problem. I guess that's the toughest situation for anyone, and the only solution that we're left with is to console ourselves.

Are you good at LOGIC...???

If you think that you're good at logic, then read each of the questions in the conversation below and try to answer them without reading the answers...!!! ;)

Abbas, a fresh computer graduate from a world class university goes for an interview in a Software company.

The interviewer is Waleed, a grubby old man. And the first question he asks Abbas, is are you good at logic?.

“Ofcourse” replies Abbas.

“Let me test you” replies Waleed.

“Two men come down a chimney. One comes with a clean face and the other comes out with a dirty face. Which one washes his face?

Abbas stares at Waleed. “Is that a test in Logic?”

Waleed nods.

“The one with the dirty face washes his face,” He answers wearily.

“Wrong. The one with the clean face washes his face. Examine the simple logic. The one with the dirty face looks at the one with the clean face and thinks his face is clean. The one with the clean face looks at the one with the dirty face and thinks his face is dirty. So; the one with the clean face washes his face.”

“Hmm. I never thought of that” says Abbas. “Give me another test”

Waleed again holds up two fingers “Two men come down a chimney. One comes out with a clean face and the other comes out with a dirty face. Which one washes his face?

“We have already established that. The one with the clean face washes his face”

“Wrong. Each one washes his face. Examine the simple logic. The one with the dirty face looks at the one with the clean face and thinks his face is clean. The one with the clean face looks at the one with the dirty face and thinks his face is dirty. So; the one with the clean face washes his face. When the one with the dirty face sees the one with the clean face washing his face, he also washes his face. So each one washes his face”

“I didn’t think of that!” says Abbas. ” It’s shocking to me that I could make an error in logic. Test me again!.”

Waleed holds up two fingers “Two men come down a chimney. One comes out with a clean face and the other comes out with a dirty face. Which one washes his face?

“Each one washes his face”

“Wrong. Neither one washes his face. Examine the simple logic. The one with the dirty face looks at the one with the clean face and thinks his face is clean. The one with the clean face looks at the one with the dirty face and thinks his face is dirty. But when the one with clean face sees that the one with the dirty face doesn’t wash his face, he also doesn’t wash his face So neither one washes his face”.

Abbas is desperate. “I am qualified for this job. Please give me one more test”

He groans when Waleed lifts his two fingers, ”Two men come down a chimney. One comes out with a clean face and the other comes out with a dirty face. Which one washes his face?

“Neither one washes his face”

“Wrong. Do you now see, Abbas, why programming knowledge is an insufficient for this job? Tell me, how is it possible for two men to come down the same chimney, and for one to come out with a clean face and the other with a dirty face? Don’t you see?

OK...Hope you enjoyed reading the conversation... ;)

You're Over-Qualified, hence REJECTED..!!!

Yesterday a similar situation occurred in our college when Accenture came for the ON-CAMPUS Placement of the final year students. Everyone knew Accenture as a mass recruiter company but this year only 12 hours before the written we came to know that it has increased the level of written and PI and won't be taking students in a large number. We were like its OK...now you can't do anything, just do the exam properly, have faith in HIM and wait for the results.

Anyways in the morning, our written went quiet well and we're quiet sure that in any case, no matter how high the cutoff maybe, we're through to the next round, i.e., PI. However, when the results came, we came to knew that we're not selected and when we scrolled down the names who were selected, we even found the names of some those people who said that "we won't get selected if the cutoff is more than 50%".

When I later discussed with my friends that what mistakes we might have done in the paper, then we came to know that the company had 2 cut-offs...namely...

1) UPPER CUT-OFF: Those who secured marks more than a particular limit then you're not selected. Also those who have attempted all the questions correctly in any one of the three sections, like I was 25/25 in LR, then also you're Rejected. Actually they consider that of you have attempted all of them correctly, then you've cheated(that's what we're told) but actually the main thing is they have an insecurity that the candidate might leave their company, as he's already so much qualified that he has attempted all of them correctly. :P

2) LOWER CUT-OFF: I guess you already know this, you've to score marks more than a particular limit.

So, moral is, companies won't select you if you're OVER-QUALIFIED.

PS: I was over-qualified, were you? :P
